Vitamin Intro

Vitamins Intro:

I want to give my readers some basic information on the vitamins and their benefits along with what foods they are found in. I plan to go vitamin by vitamin because there are a lot of them and I don’t want to overwhelm you guys with one really big post. I'll start with Vitamin A.

Vitamin A: This is a fat soluble vitamin which means that it is stored in the liver and the body does not flush it out quickly. Vitamin A’s food based form is Beta-Carotene which is safer to take because it is less likely to overdose on at high doses. This vitamin is often used to help with eye health, immune system, skin, and other systems in the body. It is known for helping with night vision. Vitamin A is high in carrots along with sweet potatoes, kale, spinach, broccoli, and eggs. Vitamin A is also an antioxidant which fights against free radicals. Free radicals are unstable oxygen molecules that can ultimately cause cancer and wreak havoc on the body.

There is more to come!

Thank you for reading my post and feel free to leave any additional information, opinions, and questions in the comments below. You can also tell me which vitamin you want to read about next!

Headaches and Migraines

I’ve seen a lot of questions out there about headaches lately. This actually used to be a huge issue for me.       Many of the following supplements are herbs. Herbs should not be taken with medications, prescription or over the counter, because herbs can be very interactive with different chemicals especially if they are focusing on the same ailment. Here is an example to make this more clear. If I am going to take Ibuprofen, I don’t want to take butterbur, feverfew, or ginger during the 6 or so hours Ibuprofen would be active in my body. If you have any questions about taking natural supplements and you are on prescription medications, I recommend you ask your doctor or a pharmacist before taking them. The natural supplements and life tips that are well known for helping headaches and migraines are as follows: Natural Supplements: Butterbur - This herb helps alleviate inflammation and tension which oftentimes cause headaches or migraines. Introductions

My name is Ahri Evelyn and I’m sharing my knowledge of health and wellness because health and wellness is life. My life. Your life. Everyone’s lives. I’ve always wanted to help people and share my knowledge with others to help them be healthy and well. My life of health and wellness started at age 2 when I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. From then on, my goal in life was to stay healthy and feel good. Even when I was that young, I would ask the adults in my life giving me food if it has “oogur” in it. Of course everyone thought it was adorable, but even at a young age, I was thinking of my own health and wellness. Down the line, in high school, I was put on antidepressants due to anxiety and depression. A few years later, in my first year of college, I started working at a supplement store and began learning everything I could about anything I could get my hands on at the store. I learned about all the vitamins, minerals, several, if not all the other natural supplements...

Allergies

Don’t you hate waking up in the morning unable to breathe? Usually only in the spring and summer or at the change of seasons? Allergies are very common. Especially the seasonal ones. I, for one, am basically allergic to spring, summer, and fall. I’ve actually started coming down with asthma because of the allergies. Allergies are just an inappropriate response by your body’s immune system toward a usually harmless substance. Some allergies have symptoms that are just annoying, such as coughing, sneezing, running or stuffy nose, itchy or watery eyes, or even a skin rash. Allergies can be life threatening to some people and can cause anaphylaxis which can cause your esophagus to swell, cutting off the airway. One of the most common culprits of a life threatening allergy is peanuts. People with peanut allergies should be diligent in making sure they do not come into contact or consume peanuts and should carry an Epipen at all times in case contact with peanuts or another allergen causing...
