Introductions

My name is Ahri Evelyn and I’m sharing my knowledge of health and wellness because health and wellness is life. My life. Your life. Everyone’s lives. I’ve always wanted to help people and share my knowledge with others to help them be healthy and well.

My life of health and wellness started at age 2 when I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. From then on, my goal in life was to stay healthy and feel good. Even when I was that young, I would ask the adults in my life giving me food if it has “oogur” in it. Of course everyone thought it was adorable, but even at a young age, I was thinking of my own health and wellness.

Down the line, in high school, I was put on antidepressants due to anxiety and depression. A few years later, in my first year of college, I started working at a supplement store and began learning everything I could about anything I could get my hands on at the store. I learned about all the vitamins, minerals, several, if not all the other natural supplements the store carried, different functions of the body's many systems, how different components work together, and I began learning about the sports nutrition supplements as well. I was told by my manager there that I was the quickest learning pupil she has had in her 35 years in the supplement industry. I learned so much and absolutely loved educating the customers who came in. I got a rush every time someone came up to the counter with a question.

After I had been with my manager at this store for about a year and had been experimenting with several supplements on my own, I decided I needed to get off the antidepressants I was put on in high school and switch to something more natural like the supplements I educated customers about every day at work. After about two months of testing things out and going on and off the meds, I successfully left them behind me and learned about myself and my body in ways I never would have otherwise.

This blog will serve as my tool to help other people and to this day, I am still learning. If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to ask. Headaches and Migraines

I’ve seen a lot of questions out there about headaches lately. This actually used to be a huge issue for me.       Many of the following supplements are herbs. Herbs should not be taken with medications, prescription or over the counter, because herbs can be very interactive with different chemicals especially if they are focusing on the same ailment. Here is an example to make this more clear. If I am going to take Ibuprofen, I don’t want to take butterbur, feverfew, or ginger during the 6 or so hours Ibuprofen would be active in my body. If you have any questions about taking natural supplements and you are on prescription medications, I recommend you ask your doctor or a pharmacist before taking them. The natural supplements and life tips that are well known for helping headaches and migraines are as follows: Natural Supplements: Butterbur - This herb helps alleviate inflammation and tension which oftentimes cause headaches or migraines. Usual...

Supplements for Anxiety

Most people get anxious every now and then. I’ve been planning my wedding for the past year and as the day got closer, my stress was out of control. Using some of the products below helped tremendously. If you are one of those unlucky individuals like me who suffers from daily anxiety, here are some things that could help! Natural Supplements: B complex - This information is also in my Allergies post . B Vitamins focus mainly on the nervous system. They also assist with energy production, stress response, and sleep quality. Who wouldn’t want to increase those? B Vitamins are one of my personal favorite supplements to take. The B vitamin I fell in love with a long time ago is by the Vitamin Shoppe Brand . B vitamins are water soluble which means that you can take as high a dose as you want and your body will absorb what is needed and flush out the rest. I wouldn’t recommend taking an insanely high amount though because they get flushed out through your kidneys and you don’t want t...

Healthy Heart

Heart health is so important especially in the society we live in today and the American diet. Many of the things below can be used to help increase heart health, but they are also good to take cyclically or as often as you’d like to help protect your heart. This does not mean that as long as you take your fish oil everyday, you can go and eat as many greasy burgers as you want and it not have any impact on your heart health. If you are on any prescription heart medications, you should ask your doctor or a pharmacist before taking any of these supplements. Personally, I do not have any heart health concerns, but with being a Type 1 Diabetic, I want to prevent any possible issues in the future. I do not take all these products listed on a daily basis, but I do cycle through a few of them at least once a year Natural Supplements: Ubiquinol - Also known as the more bioavailable form of CoQ10 and is good for overall heart health and can assist medication or statins in lowering chole...
